RF SHIELDING
Our electromagnetic shielding system for MRI scanners has a simple modular structure made from only the highest quality materials.
Our Self-bearing wooden structure is compact and light but offers an extremely strong and stable finish. Our experience and network allows for a fast turnaround of high quality electromagnetic shielding, which can be adapted to suit any customer needs.
This type of Faraday’s cage (RF Cabin) has a flexible, wide range of use in both industrial and medical applications. Our RF cages come complete with 5 years guarantee. Our current dispatch time is approximately 2 weeks.
GENERAL SPECIFICATION OF RF CAGE
Symeqs can design, deliver and install RF cages in copper, wood, aluminium or galvanized steel technology.
For commercial use with MRI scanners copper and wood cages are the ideal solution because of their flexibility, self-supporting construction and shielding parameters. Our experienced engineers and fitters are proven problem solvers, and can fit our high-quality cages into the most challenging of room designs.
Our aluminium or galvanized steel cages are recommended to more industrial and scientific applications, such as universities, science institutions, server rooms or laboratories. Where easy to clean interior is not as important as shielding parameters or raw, durable construction.

RF DOOR
RF doors are the most crucial part of any RF cage installation.
Symeqs's RF doors are constructed with an aluminium grating and stainless steel frame.
Doors are painted and are finished as standard in white, but a large variety of finishing colours are available on special request.
Our specially designed conductive seals between door frame and door leaf gives a high level of RF shielding and additional acoustic barrier. Standard acoustic levels are around 38-40dB. Symeqs's shielding effectiveness reaches all magnet manufacturers requirements.
The standard size single leaf door results in a 1200mm x 2100mm clear opening. But any other size is available on special request.
Symeqs manufacture and provide both sliding and hinged RF doors, that are offered as wither single or double with the additional operation of power operated.
With the final user in mind we provide an optional acoustic package giving 48-52dB of acoustic dampening on site, which is one of the most advanced solutions on the market.

RF WINDOW
Along with the RF door the RF window is one of the most important parts of an RF cage.
Symeqs's RF windows are constructed with a multilayer, tempered glass with decorative frames each side of the window. In a standard white. Our shielding structure is mounted inside the window and is virtually invisible, giving the final user a high comfort level. Standard acoustic level on site is around Rw=40dB. Shielding effectiveness meets all agnest manufacturers shielding requirements.
The standard size in glass is a 900mm x 1200mm clear opening, athough we can offer wider – 1500mm and 1800mm windows on request. Maximum dimensions available are 1000mm height and maximum width of2000mm.
With the final user in mind we provide an optional acoustic package giving 48-52dB of acoustic dampening on site, which is one of the most advanced solutions on the market.

RF FILTERS
Symeqs provide all types of specialized filters to connect to our RF cages. All of them made to exceed UK standards.
We can provide air conditioning filters, open wave (universal) filters, electric filters, medical gas filters, quench pipe filters, or general filter panels made to custom client specifications.
QUENCH PIPE SPECIALISTS
MRI manufacturers are increasingly demanding the highest quality and correct installation of helium quench pipes. This is a very important and specialist installation for the safe operation of the emergency quench for final user in MRI suite.
Symeqs provide quench pipe installations in line with the newest standards on the market (QLD).
All of our quench pipes are pressure tested before arriving at the installation site. Installation of the quench pipe includes an additional and final pressure test to ensure compliance and safety. This allows us to supply a 5 years warranty. The complete quench pipe installation and diffuser is marked and labelled with compliant signage.

ROOM FIT OUT
Symeqs provide a high quality interior finish using only non-magnetic materials.
Our standard finishes include:
- Static control vinyl flooring,
- Wall melamine, Laminated/Plexi/Plasterboard wall paneling,
- Non-magnetic false ceiling installation and A/C installation,
- LED lighting with electrical sockets and medical gas panels.
Non-standard, decorative, custom made interiors are also available on request.

MAGNETIC SHIELDING
Magnetic shielding to MRI is dependant on the magnet type and site conditions.
MRI scanners as a source of strong magnetic field can influence safety and equipment in the adjoining rooms and corridors. This can disturb work of sensitive electric and electronic devices such as TV’s and monitors, computers, cameras or other medical equipment. The uncontrolled magnetic influence could also create dangers for those in the vicinity tht have steel implants or pacemakers.
Site conditions have a large influence as moving steel can have a negative influence of an MRI scanners operation. Car parking, patient lifts, transformers, main supply lines or trains are the most common issues occurring close to MRI suites.
If the MRI scanners location has the potential to be affected by outside influences, we have the ability to use magnetic shielding to ensure the required environment parameters are achieved.
Symeqs provide magnetic shielding based on silicone steel sheets.

RF TESTING, REPAIRS AND UPGRADING EXISTING FACILITIES
In special applications related to radio wave shielding, measurements of a cabin systems effectiveness are often necessary.
A positive result ensures seamless work for the future.
A negative result will highlight weak points within the cage and allow repair or modification of the system.
We provide measurements manifested by checking element effectiveness e.g. Any wall, ceiling, door, window, connecting panel or filter element.
We provide general measurements in a range from 20MHz up to 300MHz, measuring shielding effectiveness in dB.
We conduct detailed measurements using near-field probes allowing us to check all cage elements, Such as: connection of two elements, filter seating (connection with RF cabin), window seating or gaps between door and door frame. This method allows us to indicate where possible leaks appear in area of 10-25cm.
Based on gained experience, we undertake RF cabins repairs and modifications most frequently for:
- Flooding and Moisture
- Mechanical damage (e.g drilling or perforations)
- Interior Renovations
- De-installation and replacing of faulty elements
- Modifications or replacements to quench pipe system
- Modifications such as adding new installations or additional equipment
We have experience in repairing cabins built in copper, aluminum, stainless steel and galvanized steel systems.
